


Terms & Conditions
Goods accepted by the carrier (hereinafter called "The Company") from the owner, consigner or shipper (hereinafter called "The Customer") will be subject to the following terms and conditions as mutually agreed.
- LIMITS OF LIABILITY
- The carrier's liability is limited to $2.00 per pound ($4.41 per kg) per shipment unless otherwise declared on the waybill, to a maximum of $50.00 per shipment. If a greater value is declared excess insurance charges will be applied at the rate of 4% per $100.00 or fraction thereof. Declared value shall not exceed $10,000.00.
- NOTICE OF CLAIM
- The company is not liable for loss, damage or delay to any goods carried under the bill of lading unless notice thereof setting out particulars of the origin, destination and date of shipment of the goods and the estimated amount claimed in respect of such loss, damage or delay is given in writing to the originating carriers of the delivering carrier within thirty (30) days after delivery of goods.
- INTEREST CLAIMS
- The company is not liable for interest charges unless appropriate insurance has been paid.
- FRAGILE GOODS
- No liability shall be recognized by the carrier for damage or delay due to improper packaging or improper
labelling of shipments. No claim shall be recognized for fragile commodities such as glass, ceramics, delicate instruments and plants unless the package and waybill have been clearly marked "FRAGILE". In such cases the courier charge will be one and one-half times the normal rate.
- CREDIT PRIVILEGES
- All shipments are on a cash basis unless the customer has established an account with Checker Courier prior to the service being performed. The shipper guarantees to pay for any and all shipping charges including "Collect Shipment" costs which are not
honoured for whatever reason by the consignee.
- DANGEROUS GOODS
- All relevant Dangerous Goods paperwork must accompany the delivery and the said paperwork must be handed to the driver upon arrival. All dangerous goods are charged at a rate of one and one-half times the normal rate.
- WAITING TIME
- The customer's delivery must be ready to be picked up and delivered by the time the courier arrives at the customer's site, or at the location designated by the customer. If for any reason the courier cannot immediately carry on with their route, waiting time will be charged at a rate of $0.50 per minute with the first five minutes free.
- WRONG ADDRESS
- Zone rate from incorrect zone to correct zone at the same service level. Delivery time frames are doubled due to the courier actually having to go to two locations.
- NO GO TRIPS
- If a courier is requested, and the delivery is not ready and will be shipped at a later time, the charge will be the "REGULAR" service charge for that zone.
- P.O.D. CHARGE
- Written Proof Of Delivery will be provided up request at a fee of $5.00 per shipment.
- C.O.D. TRIPS
- This Carrier will not accept any C.O.D. deliveries.
- AFTER HOURS
- Deliveries (after 5:00 p.m. and weekends) are at Super Hot rates (minimum $20.00 call).
- All deliveries must be wrapped, packed and addressed for safe handling.
- No guarantee. All delivery time frames are subject to weather and traffic conditions.
